Aeroflot – flight tickets

Aeroflot tickets for a direct flight from Montenegro cannot be bought today – since 2022 the Russian carrier has not been allowed to fly to the European Union or to Montenegro. The journey to Moscow and other Russian cities is still possible, though: below we explain which hubs to travel through and what to keep in mind before you go.

Why there are no Aeroflot flights from Podgorica and Tivat

After the war in Ukraine began in February 2022, the European Union closed its airspace to Russian airlines and Montenegro adopted the same measure. As a result Aeroflot can neither land in Podgorica or Tivat nor overfly Montenegro. The restriction remains in force, so you will not find direct flights by this airline in the search.

How to reach Russia from Montenegro today

  • Via Belgrade – fly to Belgrade with Air Serbia from Podgorica or Tivat and continue on a flight to Moscow.
  • Via Istanbul – Turkish Airlines takes you from Montenegro to Istanbul, where several airlines fly on to Moscow, St Petersburg and other Russian cities.
  • Other hubs – depending on the date, the search may suggest different combinations.

On aviokarta.me every connection shows its total journey time and final price, so it is easy to see whether the fastest or the cheapest option suits you better.

Tips for travelling with a connection

Whenever possible, buy the whole route on a single ticket: the connection time is then coordinated and your bag is normally checked through to the final destination. If you do combine separate tickets, leave a generous buffer between flights. Before travelling, check the entry and visa requirements for Russia as well as for the country where you change planes.

A few words about Aeroflot

Aeroflot is Russia’s largest airline and its flag carrier, with its main hub at Moscow Sheremetyevo (SVO). Today it flies mainly within Russia and to countries that have not closed their airspace to Russian carriers. Its SkyTeam membership was suspended in 2022.

Baggage: check your fare

What is included depends on the fare and, on connecting trips, on the rules of each airline on the route. The cheapest fares usually cover hand luggage only, while higher fares add a checked bag. Before you pay, aviokarta.me shows exactly how much baggage you are entitled to, and we can add an extra suitcase or sports equipment for you later.
