Flights from Podgorica to Munich: The Capital of Pretzels and Beer
TRAVELING TO MUNICH
WHERE TO STAY
Munich has plenty of hotels and other accommodation, and if you’re a traveler who loves comfort, quality lodging and a hearty breakfast, look for one of the hotels in the „Leonardo“ chain. Prices are typical for Central Europe, but the quality is first-class. Make sure the hotel you choose is close to a U-Bahn or S-Bahn station.

So your first step is booking your Podgorica – Munich flight; then pick a hotel and start planning how to spend your time. If you’re planning to go during the famous Oktoberfest, keep in mind that it starts in September, always on the third weekend of the month, and only occasionally does the festival stretch into October! Just remember that you’ll be among roughly 6 million visitors, so planning for this trip needs to start more than a year in advance…
WHAT TO SEE
Munich offers fun and beauty for everyone… If you love art, don’t miss the famous Pinakotheks (the Alte, Neue and Moderne), or the Glyptothek. Into technology? Then the Deutsches Museum is a must! Fond of historic interiors? Visit the Residenz, the former home of the Wittelsbach family. Love walking in nature and relaxing in parks? The Englischer Garten is the place for you, as this park is even bigger than New York’s famous Central Park. Or take a walk along the Isar River, spanned by seven bridges (just like Florence), past Maximilian Park, the „Angel of Peace“ and the stunning Bavarian Parliament building!
If you’re after a charming atmosphere and a mix of architectural styles, spend your time in Munich’s Old Town, which hides countless churches, picturesque squares full of little restaurants and beer halls, a wide range of shops, and the wonderful Rischart pastry shops… When you reach Marienplatz, the main city square, and take in the old and new Town Halls, walk past St. Peter’s Church and you’ll arrive at the fascinating Viktualienmarkt, where you can find all kinds of handicrafts and grab a good, inexpensive bite to eat…
PRETZELS AND BEER
And so our story gradually arrives at Bavaria’s true hallmark: beer! The region is famous for many things and produces many world-renowned brands, but coming to Munich and not trying the beer would be a sin! Wherever you sit down, you can’t go wrong ordering what Bavarians consider a staple food, brewed from just four natural ingredients, with no additives to taint it!
However, the best place to experience the atmosphere of beer-loving Bavaria is Platzl! This lovely little square is tucked away just a 3-minute walk from Marienplatz. As you step onto it, you’ll come across a few beautiful buildings and beer halls, several small ones and one big one: the Hofbräuhaus. Its origins date back to 1589 and the reign of Duke Wilhelm V. He issued a decree on brewing wheat beer and started production because he was unhappy with the quality of the beer, most of which was imported from Saxony at the time. At first just a brewery, known as the “Braunes Hofbräuhaus,” it soon got a neighbor, the “Weißes Hofbräuhaus,” and in the 19th century, by decree of King Ludwig I, it was turned into a beer hall and opened to the public. The same king also founded Oktoberfest!
The moment you step into the Hofbräuhaus, you’ll be swept up by the cheerful atmosphere and the aroma of beer, pork knuckle and sausages. Don’t forget to pair your beer with fantastic Bavarian pretzels, just tasty and salty enough to make you want another stein!
Enjoy Platzl, indulge your senses and take a seat in the beer hall once frequented by Mozart, Lenin and John F. Kennedy!
PODGORICA – MUNICH FLIGHTS
The easiest way to get to the Bavarian capital is, of course, by air… You can book Podgorica – Munich flights for any time of year, but I recommend May or golden October. The days are long enough to explore the city in daylight, and the weather is pleasant. You can book Podgorica – Munich flights with various airlines, but only Air Serbia and Lufthansa fly direct (not counting low-cost carriers). Flights usually depart in the afternoon, and fares start from 150 euros… The flight takes about an hour and a half. That means you’ll arrive rested, with plenty of time to make the most of your first day in Munich…

Munich Airport is named after Franz Josef Strauss, the governor who launched the initiative to build it. Two S-Bahn lines can take you from the airport to the city center.
Prost!
