Alitalia – flight tickets
If you are looking for Alitalia tickets, it is worth knowing that the airline no longer exists – it operated its last flights in October 2021. Today Rome, Milan and the rest of Italy are served from Montenegro by other carriers, and you can compare every available option on aviokarta.me.
The end of Alitalia and the arrival of ITA Airways
For decades Alitalia was Italy’s flag carrier, with its main base at Rome Fiumicino. After years of losses and state rescues it was shut down in mid-October 2021, and the very next day the new state-owned ITA Airways took over its flights. Since 2025 the Lufthansa Group has been a major shareholder in ITA, and the airline has since moved from SkyTeam to Star Alliance.
How to get to Italy from Montenegro today
- Direct flights – depending on the season, several carriers (including low-cost airlines) fly from Podgorica to Rome and Milan.
- Connecting in Rome – from Fiumicino ITA Airways continues to Naples, Palermo, Catania, Bari, Venice, Turin and other Italian cities.
- Other European hubs – Vienna, Belgrade, Istanbul and similar airports offer further combinations.
Which airlines fly on your chosen date, and at what price, shows up instantly in the aviokarta.me search.
ITA Airways and transatlantic flights
ITA Airways uses Rome (FCO) as its main hub, with Milan Linate also important in its network. From Rome it flies to New York, Boston, Buenos Aires and São Paulo. On a single ticket your bag is normally checked through to the final destination; with separate tickets on different airlines, leave enough time to check in again. Old Alitalia tickets and miles are not valid on the new flights.
Baggage: check your fare
What is included depends on the fare and, on connecting trips, on the rules of each airline on the route. The cheapest fares usually cover hand luggage only, while higher fares add a checked bag. Before you pay, aviokarta.me shows exactly how much baggage you are entitled to, and we can add an extra suitcase or sports equipment for you later.
